Keep up to date on the latest vision related news and events from the Bellevue Walmart Vision Center, also serving Omaha, Plattsmouth, Papillion, and the surrounding areas.

What's next for 2009?  We are looking to purchase computerized phoroptors(the instruments that you look through when the doctor is moving the lenses in front of your eyes to determine your refraction/eyeglass prescription).

July 2009: Ask our staff about our new patient referral program.  We want to know when patients have been referred to our practice by you because we would like to have the opportunity to thank you trusting us with not only your eyes but those of your friends and family.

June 2009: We are in the process of creating a way for our patients to schedule their appointments 24/7 via our website. Our patients will soon be able to view our exam schedule online and chose which available time is convenient to have your eyes examined at our office.

April 2009:  The doctors at our practice have hired a medical billing specialist to file vision and medical claims to the insurance companies on behalf our patients.

April 2009:  We now have nine technicians that are employed by our independent doctors to assist our patients from walk in to check out.

January 2009:  Our slit lamp cameras have arrived!!!  The slit lamp is the microscope that we use to evaluate the eye.  Having a digital camera built into the slit lamp allows us to photograph and document any issues with the front of your eye and eyelid.  Photography of this area allows us to monitor changes over time.  We will have a link to some of our slit lamp photographs soon.

December 2008:  We have added flat screen monitors in our exam rooms to show the Eyemanginations patient education software.  During your exam, we can use this software to show informative video that describes eye conditions that our patients have, are at risk for or are requesting more information on.  The Eyemaginations software is a very informative tool in detailing specific conditions of the eye.  We can use this program to provide a visual-audio teaching tool in the exam room.

November 2008:  Our office is now using Electronic Medical Records(EMR).  EMR's not only reduce paper waste, they eliminate errors created by poor handwriting and allow us to better document the results and medical coding of the tests performed in our office.  There is also a benefit with EMR's that allows us to better communicate with your pharmacy and your other health care providers.

November 2008:  For the convenience of our patients, we now laminate your eyeglass and contact lens presciptions on cards for easy storage and access in your pocket, purse or billfold.

October 2008:  We have received our GDx nerve fiber analyzer.  The GDx test has proved its usefulness in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma.

May 2008:  We have purchased computerized visual acuity charts.  No more dim projectors showing the same EVOTZ letters on the 20/20 line.   These charts allow us to be more consistant and accurate without having to worry about our patients memorizing the letters on our charts.

June 2008:  Our practice has hired the first two of many technicians that will assist the doctors in our practice in scheduling, pretesting, scribing and overall practice management.

June 2007:  Our retinal camera has been installed at our practice.  A retinal camera allows us to photograph normal and abnormal conditions of the inside of your eyes.  We have used photographs from our own retinal camera as art for this website.

January 2001:  Dr. Schlueter opened his practice at this location.
